Many people have asked how Gavin proposed and what our wedding plans are. I’ll be honest, we haven’t really solidified any wedding plans, right now we’re still tossing around ideas.
Gavin proposed Friday night after dinner, he got down on both knees and very nervously asked if I would marry him. He handed me a little blue bag from Tiffany’s, inside was a cute little blue box, wrapped without the help of tape and tied with a little white ribbon. Inside the box was another box, this one was black velvet and inside it was the most beautifully set, exquisitely cut diamond engagement ring I have ever seen (it’s now taken up residence on my left hand ring finger). After he proposed, he was very relived that I said yes, and was incredibly giggly. Friday night we watched Golden Eye, and Gavin very sweetly stayed up until around 4 am making me tea and bringing me water.
Saturday morning, after breakfast, we went back to sleep until around noon when we notified our friends and parents. We also made a web site. That was pretty much all we did, we hadn’t slept much the night before. The first web site we made was… rather ugly. It reminded me of a powerpoint I once tossed together so I’d have something to start off with. The site was so appalling to our aesthetic sensibilities it was removed within 20 minutes of its creation. The second web site, the one you are currently viewing, was also created in about 20 minutes.
I would like to point out we are fully aware there are not many pictures of us on the web site. We realize we should have taken pictures of us and the ring –the Happy Engaged Couple, but please keep in mind that after nearly no sleep Friday (and the Thursday and Wednesday nights before that) and recovering from what appears to be the flu I was not in any mood (or radiantly beautiful condition, Gavin may disagree) to take pictures. We will have more pictures up at some point, eventually when we take them. Also, I am quite aware the Kindli’s Photo link goes to a bunch of pictures of the Trudell Family Cat, P.R. Thomas in a muu-muu (he had been rather naughty). I will put more photos up there at some point as well (I just need to take/find some).
Sunday we met Jenny for lunch, toured the MFA and walked around the Boston Commons. Sunday night, we looked at gift registries online. We have yet to finalize any decisions on that, but I am happy to say that we have similar tastes.
Monday we met Michelle for lunch, and then went and saw Nanny McPhee before heading back to the apartment and discussing announcement options, location decisions, and future plans.
Tuesday morning at 8:30, Gavin carried my bag down to the cab. My flight left for Houston at 10:10 from Logan, and I’m on the plane now. Make that I’m home now!
